Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso spoke out after his dominant win in the German Grand Prix yesterday saying that the southern bloc countires need support in these trying times.

"I don't really know politics, but it is true that the situation is not great in Spain -- but a Spanish driver in an Italian car, designed by a Greek man is good to win here,» he said.

Ferrari's chief designer is Nicholas Tombazis born in Athens in 1968. He holds in aeronautical engineering degree from London and has worked for Benetton, McLaren and now Ferrari.
