The Organization for the Promotion of Greek Language organizes the 7th World Conference for the Greek Language at Messolonghi on September 18-20, 2008 on :
«The teaching of Modern Greek Language around the world»
The scope of the Conference is to present the situation concerning the teaching of Greek as a foreign language in Greece and abroad and to discuss matters which concern issues, such as: who teaches the Greek Language in various countries, how many and which teaching methods are followed, how Greek Language skills gain official certification.
The main purpose of this Conference is to establish a communication network among the various Institutions (Universities, Teaching Centers, Schools) in Greece and abroad in accordance to the Conference conclusions, in order to take advantage and promote the worldwide current trend towards the study of Modern Greek.
The topics of the conference are as follows:
* Teaching methods and problems
* Choice and evaluation of teachers
* Books and other educational material
* Teaching Objectives in various countries
* Examination systems, skills certification
* Teacher’s communication networks (information and experience exchange)
* Actions for the promotion of the teaching of Modern Greek
Scholars are invited to submit abstracts for papers (10-15 lines) on any of the former topics to the Secretary of the Scientific Committee Mrs Vasiliky Kavagia by email : hls@bhc.gr, (tel. 0030 210 82 17 710, fax 0030 210 82 15 025) and indicate their e-mail, postal address and telephone number. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 31st March 2008.
