Greece's only opera house is in danger of becoming extinct. The €3 million that were slated to go to the foundation were never given and unfortunately the opera house has to start the year with no funds, no location and no leadership. Questions have now arisen as to how the government handled the issue.
Althougth the state opera is not doing that well, opera lovers have some hope. There seems to be a discernible market in Athens for the music, as four operas are set for the privately run Athens Concert Hall this autumn.
