As we are still as a global community trying to come to terms with the awful events that occured at Virginia Tech University in the United States on April 16th; we wanted to infrom the DF community that all the representatives of the local Hellenic Student Association and all Greek professors at the university are safe. There are no answers and so many questions for the events that took place, and it is a very hard pin to swallow, but there is a need to show support for those left behind to cope with after. Any messages posted here will be forwarded back to the whole HSA at Viginia Tech. Our thoughts are with you.

eleni... ...I think DF made it quite clear that they are sending sympathies to the whole VT community and not just the Greeks. It may just be easier to relay the message back to them first who can then spread it on. To all of you at Virginia Tech, may god bless you!
Ariadne... ...Stephen, somebody Greek is like my family. First I worry about my family, then my extented family, then my friends. Thats the way it works. If someone Greek is hurt it's like my sister or brother being hurt. I feel it deeper and want to take care of them more.
Your post sounds kind of snooty Stephen. You know as well as I that when you're from the diaspora and you meet someone at school or work that is Greek the bond formed is "instant best friend" and an inherent trust and reliance is born. We come from the same homeland, we take care of eachother.
We are all human and it's good to reach out to others but first we need to make sure our own are safe and sound. That our own are cared for.
P... ...Well said Stephen !!!!
Stephen... ...Who cares if they were Greek or not? Victims are victims, we're all human.
HokieFriend... ...We pray for all the victims of this horrible tragedy—those who died and those who are left struggling for answers. May God grant peace and courage now and in the days ahead.
Virginia Tech is a fantastic school, and the Hokies have a great spirit! Stay strong.
kiki... ...pana gee a mou - we are so very sad and bewildered.
everybody i know up here in connecticut is thinking about this all the time, and wishing the best for the survivors and of course the grieving families.
