As we all know, Greece's different regions offer unique local customs and traditions that are celebrated at various times of the year. (Depending on the festival or holiday.)
A fun, but messy, tradition in Galixidi is celebrated on Clean Monday to coincide with the beginning of Lent. This past Monday, hundreds of residents ran into the streets of the town armed with flour and had a "flour war" against each other. The pictures speak for themselves-- looks like a fun time (or a nuclear winter) to us. Locals say that the colored flour can take up to several weeks to be cleaned.
