Daily Interviews
John Lorton... ...From the opening paragraph to the last sentence, I could not put your book down. You have a wonderful way of describing and inserting peoples' thought and feeling in the midst of a moving dialogue and situation, and keeping the story going. I love it. And I also enjoyed the short divisions within the chapters and your clever kicker sentences at the ends of the parts so that I couln't wait to find out what is coming next.
Maria Poulos... ...We're so few in number that I always try to read what Greeks tell us about ourselves, particularly the immigrant experience which will soon be ancient history to most Greeks living in the USA today. It's a story that ought to be kept alive by one way or another.
Kosta... ...Sounds like an interessting book by an interesting guy
Cleo... ...Great interview. I just ordered the book.
Panos K... ...On the strength of the comments listed on the site, I bought and read the book, and agree with all of the praise given it.
Dina Contos... ...So many tragic figures in one small volume, graced with uplifting moments that linger on. In many ways the book contains two stories skillfully woven together.
Helen L.... ...Jim:
Bravo for your beautifully written and engaging story. It is obvious to all of us who know you that your vivid imagination, coupled with a keen intellect and broad life experience will translate into a prolific and successful writing career. We eagerly await Opus II.
Alyosha K.... ...What a great and powerful movie this short, but beautiful, story would become in the hands of the right producer, director, and screenwiter. It would rank with E. Kazan's masterpiece AMERICA AMERICA!!
lucy marsters... ...i loved it...it was a real page turner, looking forward
to the next one.
Joseph R.... ...A powerful story, only too short and bitter-sweet, with characters that are alive and believable.
Mimi D... ...So many feelings were awakened while reading this novel: Love of family, country, traditions and faith, as well as the passion of profession.
Mimi D... ...A lyrical and moving account, beautifully written and skillfully paced. Well done.
Patty... ...Ihaven't read the book but plan to do so soon. What is most unfortunate is the fact that many Greek Americans have had to change their last names to be \"accepted\". Fortunately my parents when they emigrated to Canada did not face such discrimination nor did hundreds of the other Greeks that entered. A good majority are still identified as Greeks because of their last name.
Richard Clairmont... ...A riveting book! This novel begins in Greece, and although it initially deals with the immigration experience from the standpoint of the hero's immigrant parents, it deals with so much more -- a modern man of medicine whose life is shaped, defined, and directed by the urban world in which he spends his adult life.
Richard Clairmont... ...A riveting book! It begins in Greece, and although it initially deals with the immigration experience from the standpoint of the hero's immigrant parents, it ends up focusing on so much more -- a modern man of medicine whose life is clearly shaped, defined, and directed by the urban world in which he spends his adult life.
tina collias,December 11,2006... ...Jim and I loved your book and have re-read many times-
we identified with it in so many ways-thank you and so
when's the next one ?
Dorothy P.... ...A facinating books with tremendous insights into the Greek American culture.
Chris G... ...A captivating book. I could not put it down once I began to read it!
Stella... ...Nico and I loved your book.....you're amazing....can't wait for the next one.
