Greece's Culture Minister signed a decree allowing the demolition of a historical landmark in central Athens to improve the view for a new museum a stone's throw from the Parthenon, the ministry said on Wednesday.
Despite protests from conservationists, minister George Voulgarakis signed a decree allowing the demolition of an art deco building and a neo-classical property, where people have lived in for decades. Conservationists have fought for months to save the two buildings.
DF: Krima (a shame) that the city and politicians are neglecting to recognize the historic significance of these two beautiful buildings.

In related news from the same region, Kathimerini has written a great article (in Greek) about the few remaining Greek inhabited villages that dot the Bosphorus. No, it's not a new television series, but a young Greek Cypriot living in the UK. DesperateGreekHouseWives.Co.UK is a new site that will was launched with the goal of helping pass down valued traditions and recipes that the blogger, Anasia Angeli, grew up with. There will be recipes shown thru video streams where people all over the world can learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to preparing the perfect Haloumi. (a favorite of ours.)
So get your utensils and recipe books ready for a truly different way of learning how to cook Greek (and Cypriot) food.
DF: Clever. Best of luck Anasia.
