Greek Scholarships


There are dozens and dozens of Greek descent scholarships avaialbe for students trying to get into
colleges and grad schools. While our list is constantly being added to and growing, we hope that you find this heplful in getting some financial aid into getting into the school of your dreams. Hellenic Time Scholarship Fund

# Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited College or University for the current academic year.

# Applicants must be of Greek descent, and between the ages of 17 and 25.

Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia Scholarship


SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS OF GREEK DESCENT FOR THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR

All applicants must be of Greek descent, U.S. citizens, and lawful permanent residents of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, or Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania; Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester or Salem Counties in New Jersey.

HUC PHILIA SCHOLARSHIP


- The Paideia Scholarship, a merit scholarship awarded to the child of a Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia member. Academic excellence is the primary consideration; no financial information is required. The parent(s) must be current members in good standing for at least three years. $3,000

- The Goldie S. Vastardis Memorial Scholarship, funded by a grant from Louis Vastardis, in memory of his wife, this merit scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior whose parents or grandparents are stewards of St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Church, Broomall, Pa. Academic excellence is the primary consideration; no financial information is required. $1,000

- Cyprus Brotherhood Scholarship, funded by the Cyprus Brotherhood, is offered for the first time this year to a student whose family are members in good standing of the Cyprus Brotherhood for the past 3 years. Academic excellence is the primary consideration; no financial information is required. $2,000

- Anthony Chokas Memorial Scholarship $2,000
Chios Society of Philadelphia ‘Koraes” Scholarship $2,000


These 2 scholarships are offered for the first time this year by the Chios Society of Philadelphia ‘Koraes.’ The first award honors the late president of the Chios Society, Mr. Anthony Chokas. The second award is in memory of and honors past and present leaders and members of the Chios Society. Applicants must be of Chian descent. Academic excellence is the primary consideration; no financial information is required.

AHEPA Scholarships

AHEPA has given out millions of dollars to Greek American students since its inception in the 1920s.  There are so many scholoarships that the organization gives out that we can not even begin to list them but there are some categories that we will give you that might help with your search.

Pan Hellenic Scholarship -

This scholarship foundation gives out over 100,000 dollars in scholarships to its reciepients every year with a great event in Chicago, Il.  For more info please visit website below.

Hellenic Professioanl Society of Illinois Scholarship -

The Graduates' Presentation Event takes place each year. This year’s event will take place in September 2010. All graduates of Hellenic descent completing undergraduate or graduate programs from accredited colleges or universities graduating between September 2010 and June 2011 are eligible. Graduates are guests of HPSI for the event and receive a certificate of achievement. Graduates that participate in the event also receive a complimentary one-year membership as an introduction to the Society.   For more info click here:

 

Mando Gouvas Scholarship Foundation -

The Mando Gouvas Scholarship Foundation was founded by the friends and family of Mando Gouvas, as a tribute to her devotion and enthusiasm for educating students in the Hellenic language, culture, and Orthodox religion.  Funding for the scholarship will be made through generous tax-deductible donations, along with proceeds from various fundraisers.

The Mando Gouvas Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization, will provide educational grants to the brightest and most deserving students of Hellenic decent.  Grants will be given on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

The Dr. Nicholas Padis Memorial Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to a qualifying senior undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a graduate degree full time at an accredited university or professional school. Academic excellence is the primary consideration for this scholarship. Established in 1986, this annual award honors Dr. Nicholas Padis, Philadelphia physician, first president and founding member of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia.

The Dr. Peter A. Theodos Memorial Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded to a senior undergraduate or graduate student with financial need pursuing studies leading to a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Degree. Established in 1988, this annual award honors Dr. Peter A. Theodos, Philadelphia physician, past president and founding member of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia. This scholarship is funded by the Theodos family and includes an additional grant provided this year by Peter J. Liacouras.

The Nicholas S. Hetos, DDS, Memorial Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded to a senior undergraduate or graduate student with financial need pursuing studies leading to a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) Degree. This award honors Dr. Nicholas S. Hetos, Philadelphia dentist, past president and founding member of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia. This scholarship is funded by the Hetos family.

The American College of Thessaloniki on behalf of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki is offering the opportunity to three young people to continue their education and acquire an undergraduate degree from a US accredited institution by using the Scholarship program of Jewish Students from Balkan Countries (BF). Bodossaki Foundation Scholarship

Τhe American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) on behalf of the Bodossaki Foundation is offering the opportunity to two (2) young men and/or women of Greek Nationality with strong academic potential and demonstrated financial need, to continue their education and acquire an MBA degree from ACT. Hellenic-American scholarships for Study Abroad students

The American College of Thessaloniki offers a limited amount of half and full-tuition scholarships, accompanied by free on-campus housing to eligible candidates of Hellenic-American descent. Criteria of selection are based on a personal essay on the candidate's Hellenic heritage and its meaning to the development of his/her personality and on academic performance judged by a student's transcript and two letters of recommendation.
