DINNER CONVERSATION DURING CHRISTMAS (XMAS)

Here is a conversation starter for you and your families as you sit down during the holiday season.

Did you know that the word XMas most likely has a Greek beginning?  How so?  Well as Christmas became more popular with the growing number of Christians around the world, many people would shorten the name for the word.  Somewhere along the line, they say that some Greeks began to call it X-Mas with the X representing the Greek letter (Chi).  The sound "Chi" is the same sound from the word Christos, in the Greek language.

They always did say that Greeks began so many things.

Above Right: Sytagma Square, in Athens, decorated for the holidays.
