Athens International Radio going strong

Athens International Radio will be celebrating its four year anniversary this week as the station continues to grow to serve the needs of the ever expanding multilingual communities of Athens.  Started in 2004 with the coming home of the Olympics to the city, the station now broadcasts in 13 languages ( Greek, English, French, Chinese, Albanian, Russian, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Filipino, Arabic, Italian and Spanish); and not only is seen as a way for expats and immigrant communities to get news information; but also as a guide for foreigners when they are visiting Athens.

The station has collaborations with several international broadcasting agencies (BBC, Radio France Internationale RFI, Germany’s DWW and China Radio International); and very often tackles issues that deal with immigration.

Their goal: To become the place where foreigners turn to to hear Greek and International news.
